Professor Andre Terencio
Black Belt 4th Degree
André Terencio, known as André Negão, was born on December 20, 1977, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Starting Jiu-Jitsu at age 13 to overcome obesity and low self-esteem, André trained under Carlos Henrique, who promoted him from white to black belt.
Despite financial challenges, André’s dedication to training led him to sacrifice birthday and holiday gifts to afford tuition. His passion for Jiu-Jitsu propelled him to success, allowing him to travel the world and coach top fighters.
In 2002, André founded the André Negão BJJ Club, producing champions like Hannette Staack and Oswaldo “Queixinho” Augusto. Later, he co-founded the “Brazil 021” academy, reuniting with his mentor Carlos Henrique. Today, André teaches at one of the top academies in Chicago, sharing his expertise and inspiring the next generation.

The most common are “Tin” and “Nette.” “Tin” is less common, used mainly by Hannette’s mother who was always coming up with little nicknames for her children. The second, “Nette,” was used because Hannette is an uncommon name, and it was difficult for her to introduce herself. Children, especially, grew to know her as Anette or Auntie Nette
