BJJ Near Avondale, Without Changing Your Commute

Avondale folks know Milwaukee Avenue well, from the bakeries and shops of the Polish Village to the Blue Line running underneath it all. Brazil 021 Chicago is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy on Chicago Ave in West Town, and it fits neatly into a Blue Line routine. Train before work, after work, or on Saturday morning. Brazil 021 is a Chicago BJJ academy led by world champion black belts.

We are part of an international Brazil 021 team with schools in Brazil, the US and Canada, founded by black belts Andre “Negão” Terencio and Hannette Staack. The mat feels like a neighborhood gym, though: friendly, patient, and built for people with jobs and families.

BJJ Avondale Chicago Classes for Adults and Kids

New adults start in Fundamentals, a Gi class that teaches the basics in a calm, safe way. If you would rather train without the uniform, there is a beginner No-Gi class on Friday evenings.

For kids, the program is about more than technique. They learn to listen, take turns, follow a coach’s instructions and keep trying when something is hard. Parents tell us those habits show up at home and at school.
