Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Near Humboldt Park
Humboldt Park is a neighborhood of big summer gatherings, from the lagoon and the Humboldt Park Boathouse to the music and flags along Paseo Boricua on Division St. It is also full of families who want their kids to grow up confident and disciplined. Brazil 021 is a Chicago BJJ academy led by world champion black belts.
Brazil 021 Chicago brings that kind of training to the west side. Our black belt coaches, including 7x World BJJ Champion Hannette Staack and 6th-degree black belt Andre “Negão” Terencio, teach jiu-jitsu as something anyone can learn, at any age.
Many parents start by watching from the side of the mat, then decide to try a class of their own. Training on the same days as your kids makes it easier to build a family routine.

Getting to Our BJJ Gym From Humboldt Park
Catch the #66 Chicago Ave bus and ride east toward Western Ave. The academy is at 2643 W Chicago Ave, 2nd Floor, just west of Western. From the north end of the neighborhood, you can also take a bus over to Western and ride the #49 south to Chicago Ave.
Families who drive can use street parking on Chicago Ave and the side streets.
BJJ Humboldt Park Chicago Classes for Adults and Kids
Kids classes teach listening, respect and focus along with real technique. Younger kids learn through games and movement. Older kids learn to hold positions, escape, and stay calm under pressure. Adults have their own beginner classes, so parents can train too.
Coaches keep kids classes structured. There is a warm-up, a short lesson, partner drills and time to play, so kids burn energy while learning to listen and follow directions.
- Kids Class 1 (ages 3–6): Tue & Thu 4:15 PM, Sat 10:00 AM
- Kids Class 2 (ages 7–12): Tue & Thu 5:00 PM, Sat 10:30 AM
- Adults Beginners (Gi): Mon & Wed 6:30 PM, Tue & Thu 6:30 AM
- Adults Beginners (No-Gi): Fri 6:30 PM

Summer Camp Interest List
Our Kids Summer Camp ran in summer 2026, and we are planning the 2027 camp now: week-long sessions for kids 5 and up, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with games, drills, small groups and confidence building. Dates are still to be announced, and families on the interest list hear first.
In the meantime, the easiest way to see if your child will love it is a free first class.
