Who Books BJJ Private Lessons
A private lesson is the fastest way to get answers to your own questions. Instead of following the class plan, the hour is built around you: your body type, your problem positions and what you want to get better at next.
Students book privates for all kinds of reasons.
- New students who want a calm start before joining group classes
- Competitors preparing for a specific tournament
- Busy people whose schedules do not match class times
- Experienced students stuck on one part of their game
- Anyone who prefers to learn in a private, low-pressure setting

What a Private Lesson Looks Like
Every private starts with a short conversation about what you want from the session. Your coach then builds the lesson around it, teaching technique step by step, watching you drill and fixing small details that are easy to miss in a big class. Depending on your goals, you may finish with positional rounds so you can test the new material right away.
Some students book a single session to solve one problem. Others book regularly to build a plan over time.
Because the session is yours, you can ask as many questions as you want, slow down on a tricky detail or repeat a move until it finally clicks.
What You Can Work On
Any part of the game is on the table, gi or no-gi. If you are not sure where to start, your coach will watch you move and suggest the area that will help most.
- Fundamentals and self-defense for complete beginners
- Guard retention, sweeps and passing
- Escapes from mount, side control and back control
- Competition game plans, rules and scoring
- Specific techniques you have struggled to make work
